It is good practice when design detached and semi-detached homes to align the grey and black water pipes to the exterior of the walls and simplify the routing of sewer pipes. The doors should ideally be aligned the water closet (toilet seat) and swing inside to give the user an opportunity to react should they forget to lock the door behind them when they enter. Whener room is available circulation spaces should ideally be increased from a 400mm to a 600mm diameter space
